It is always celebrated on the first day of the lunar calendar month. In addition, New Year Celebration is the longest holiday which lasts up to seven to nine days. The Vietnamese New Year or Tet Holiday is on February 1st, the year of the Tiger.

What is Tet?

It is one of the most respected and anticipated Celebrations in the country. The occasion is celebrated among the Vietnamese in order to express their respect and remembrance for their ancestors. How Will The 2022 Vietnamese New Year Holiday be Celebrated?

The Vietnamese New Year Celebration is no doubt one of the most important holidays in the country and everyone is preparing in advance for the event. To make the holiday different from the past year, the people will spend a few days at home cleaning, polishing their utensils ad decorating their homes with flowers, branches of peach blossom, and a lot more. For the 2022 Vietnamese New Year celebration, the House cleaning and decoration will begin on January 23rd and they called it the “Kitchen God Day”. After that, from January 26th to 28th of the last lunar month, the wrapping of Chung cake will be celebrated. On the 31st of 2022, which is the last lunar month is the Eve of the Vietnamese New Year and several events will be carried out. 

February 1st in 2022, which is Vietnamese New Years Day is the time to visit relatives from their father’s side. While on the 2nd of February 2022, the Vietnamese People visit relatives from their mother’s side.  Furthermore, February 3rd to the 5th of 2022, is the time to visit your teachers, friends, other relatives, and neighborhoods.  February 15th in 2022 marks the first lunar month and is the day of the first full moon of the New Year. This is very important for the Vietnamese religious life and culture. They eat vegetable and plain water for purification and other activities then follows.

How Long Will Vietnamese 2022 New Year Last?

The national Public Holiday which is called Tet Holiday by the Vietnamese lasts for 5 to 7 days. And is one of the longest and largest holidays in the whole of Vietnam. The Vietnamese New Year Holiday for 2022 might also last for 5 to 7 days. However, the government is considering expanding the holiday to 9 days instated. Nevertheless, you can still visit Vietnam for the Tet holiday to celebrate with your friends, family, and relatives. It is, however, advisable to apply for a Visa if you wish to travel to the country because the embassy will be closed during the holiday season.
